Former Blackhawks forward Andrew Ladd has signed a long-term extension with the Winnipeg Jets, the team announced Tuesday.
In a press conference on Tuesday morning True North Sports and Entertainment announced that they have have purchased the Atlanta Thrashers organization and plan to move the team to Winnipeg for this upcoming NHL season.
After winning the Stanley Cup, the Chicago Blackhawks went through a much publicized roster overhaul. A year later, the Blackhawks’ of season will be focused on filling team needs instead of cutting salary.
Tonight will be a reunion of sort, as the 2010 Chicago Blackhawks square off against the Atlanta Thrashers and four members of last year’s Stanley Cup Championship team.
Saturday night, it was former Blackhawk vs former Blackhawk as Dustin Byfuglien had to face Anti Niemi in a Thrashers vs Sharks game. Byfuglien scored a few game winning goals on the Blackhawks against the Sharks during the playoffs and he did it again.
