Attempted Bank Robbery
A man suspected in five Chicago bank robberies tried to rob a sixth bank in the Lake View neighborhood on Friday, the FBI said.
About 2:20 p.m., the man entered a Chase bank at 6650 S. Stony Island and attempted a non-takeover robbery, the FBI said.
A man dubbed the “Elmer Fudd Bandit” — believed to have robbed four Chicago area banks and attempted a fifth in 2012 — was charged by a federal grand jury indictment on Thursday.
Police said the Indiana man was captured during the attempted robbery of a Bank of America branch in the 600 block of Roosevelt Road in Glen Ellyn.

An alleged bank robber and a would-be robber have appearances in federal court Wednesday, after, police say, both returned to the scene of their crimes.
