The Shedd Aquarium’s new beluga calf is now officially on public display after Friday’s debut at the where she’ll be seen at the Abbott Oceanarium; but she won’t be able to hear the spectators, for a very good reason.
The Shedd Aquarium today revealed its two-week old Pacific white-sided dolphin calf is a male.
Born on Memorial Day, the calf has already passed many other critical milestones, including bonding with mom and learning to slip-stream, swimming in mom’s wake to save energy.

The female Pacific white-sided dolphin calf was born June 3 to Shedd dolphin Tique, which had been transported to a Miami dolphin habitat to be impregnated.
Aquarium officials announced that a Pacific white-sided dolphin named Tique gave birth to the calf shortly before 9 a.m. Friday.
