Officers responded to a garage fire in the 6600 block of South Campbell about 11:30 a.m. Monday, police said. After the fire was extinguished, authorities found what appeared to be a dead female. The body was “severely burned” and an autopsy Tuesday was inconclusive.
The male, whose age was not immediately known, fired shots at police officers about 2:50 a.m. near West 64th Street and South Campbell Avenue, police said. Police returned fire, but no one was injured in the shooting.
