Chicago Police ran over an epileptic man with their squad car and left him underneath the vehicle as he had a seizure, calling for backup instead of helping him first, a newly filed federal lawsuit claims.
Officers responded to the “domestic-related stabbing” about 8 p.m. in the 1800 block of South Central Park Avenue, said police News Affairs Officer Ronald Gaines.
The man was driving northbound in the 1500 block of South Central Park Avenue at 10 a.m. when his vehicle crashed into a tree, police said.
The 23-year-old was shot in the shoulder and left thigh about 2:40 a.m. in the 500 block of South Central Park Avenue, police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala said. Witnesses said they saw the man exchange fire with another person, Zala said.
About 1:15 a.m., the two were driving south in the 1600 block of North Central Park when a dark-colored SUV pulled up alongside them and someone inside opened fire, police said.
