Late Wednesday night, one man was killed and another man was injured in a shooting outside of a Logan Square neighborhood store on the Northwest Side, police said.
About 7 p.m., the boy was chasing a dog when he ran from between parked cars onto Talman Avenue near 69th Street and was hit by a southbound Chevrolet van, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.
About 6:20 p.m., the teen was in the 3000 block of West 71st Street when he was shot in the shoulder, police said. Witnesses saw the teen run into a backyard before collapsing.
A 16-year-old boy was shot in the shoulder about 6:20 p.m. in the 3000 block of West 71st Street in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood, police said. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he later died.
Jeffrey Ellis, 48, was working on the vehicle at 1:15 p.m. in the 6600 block of South Homan Avenue when it fell on him, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Marcus Dee, 31, fatally shot himself after shooting 22-year-old Nadia Ezaldein in a domestic-related incident at the Nordstrom store at 55 E. Grand on Friday night, authorities said. Ezaldein, a seasonal employee at the store, was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on Saturday afternoon.

James Jones, 18, has been charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder for the shooting that killed 18-year-old Demarcus Boswell on June 19, authorities said.

The most recent fatal shooting happened early Monday in West Englewood. Officers found a man, thought to be in his 50s, unresponsive on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to the head in the 1500 block of West 72nd Street about 12:45 a.m.
The male, whose age was not immediately known, fired shots at police officers about 2:50 a.m. near West 64th Street and South Campbell Avenue, police said. Police returned fire, but no one was injured in the shooting.
