There have been at least 10 holdups in a little more than two months on or near the school’s Hyde Park campus.
The incidents happened twice in the 1900 block of North Orchard Street — about 7:15 p.m. on Oct. 10 and 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 21 — and once in the 1800 block of North Howe Street on Oct. 25.
The victim was smoking a cigarette on the porch about 5:50 p.m. at her home in the Grand Boulevard neighborhood when an unknown male wearing a partial ski mask and gloves grabbed her from behind.
In each case, the armed man took money, inventory or an employee’s personal property, Area Central detectives said in a business alert.
About 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 30, a girl was near the intersection of Henderson and Cicero when she was approached by a man driving a black-colored car, according to an alert issued by Chicago Police. The man tried to talk to the girl — with the intention of luring her into the car — but she ignored the man and fled to safety.
The victim was walking east in the 4300 block of West Peterson Avenue, when the man walked up behind her and slapped her on the buttocks, police said. The man then ran away, but as the female proceeded to walk back west, he came back and fondled her genital and breast areas
Police said, sometime late Saturday night or early Sunday morning, a 24-year-old woman was attacked while she was walking in the 2500 block of North Lincoln Avenue.
In an alert issued Monday night, police said vehicles and trash cans had been set on fire between June and September — the latest incident on Sept. 26. Alleyways are an apparent target, the alert said.

Thieves used electric saws to remove the catalytic converters from two vehicles at the Metra station at 123rd Street and 82nd Avenue on Thursday.

About 6:30 p.m., a man believed to be 50 to 60 years old walked up to three children in the 5700 block of West Belden and started talking to them, police said in a community alert. The man tried to lure them with money, but the children did not talk to him and ran off “to safety,” police said.
According to a community alert from Chicago Police, the girl was walking home from school in the 1000 block of East 63rd Street shortly before 4 p.m., when a man grabbed her from behind, and tried to pull her into a white full-sized van with painted windows.
A 19-year-old woman was jogging shortly after midnight Wednesday morning in the 6500 block of South Artesian Avenue, when a man wearing a black hoodie approached her, and flashed a handgun, police said. The man then forced her into a gangway, and sexually assaulted her.
A man, thought to be in his late teens or early 20s, attempted to sexually assault a woman in the 900 block of West Van Buren Street at 12:18 a.m. after following her as she rode the Blue Line from the Lake station.
The 12-year-old boy was walking to school in the 2100 block of West Farragut Avenue last week when the driver of a white cargo van parked on the street asked the boy to come into his vehicle.
In each incident, someone entered apartments during daytime hours and took property from inside, according to a community alert from Chicago Police.
The incident occurred Thursday morning in the 5400 block of West Roscoe Street, according to a statement from Chicago Police.
