Someone called 9-1-1 at 7:48 p.m. to report a person clinging to a tree in the DuPage River in the 1200 block of South Washington Street. Crews arrived at the scene five minutes later to find the 58-year-old man holding on to the tree and surrounded by fast-moving currents.
Now, authorities are going after a land owner and looking into why action wasn’t taken sooner. CBS 2’s Dave Savini reports.
Monday’s deluge resulted in isolated flooding, but four Chicago area rivers remain near their flood stage, according to the National Weather Service.
This year’s drought has had many negative effects, but it does have at least one benefit.
Over the weekend, some Chicago area residents were merely kept awake by a severe round of storms.
