The most recent fatal shooting happened Sunday afternoon in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.
Timothy Triplett was found outside in the 3500 block of West Flournoy Street at 12:40 p.m., according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. Police said he had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Triplett was a standout basketball player at Crane and Marshall high schools. He also briefly attended Farragut.
A police squad SUV was heading north on Homan Avenue when it was struck by a black car heading west on Congress Parkway, police said. The crash caused the SUV to flip onto its roof.
A 16-year-old boy was shot in the shoulder about 6:20 p.m. in the 3000 block of West 71st Street in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood, police said. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he later died.

A 23-year-old man was standing outside about 8:15 p.m. in the 3100 block of West Polk Street when a Jeep Grand Cherokee drove by and someone inside opened fire, police said. The victim was shot in the right foot and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition stabilized, police said.
The men robbed a person Sunday at about 2:50 a.m. near the intersection of Jackson Boulevard and Western Avenue, according to police. Shortly after the robbery, all three entered a vehicle which drove away and went onto the Eisenhower Expressway.
