A judge has ordered a mental fitness evaluation for a 33-year-old prisoner who escaped from custody on Wednesday, because the man says he hears voices in his head.
Jorge Chavez, 18, had a warrant out for his arrest and was seen in the parking lot of a Walmart at 1100 S. Randall Road in Elgin about 9 p.m., police said in a statement. Chavez and the 19-year-old woman with him drove off in a vehicle reported stolen from Chicago.
The boys have been charged with armed robbery and aggravated battery.
