CUB: Energy-Efficiency Programs Save More Money Than Alternate Suppliers

A couple years ago, you could save decent money on your electric bill merely by switching to an alternate energy supplier, but Citizens Utility Board spokesman Jim Chilsen said not anymore. That is because those companies have started hiking rates, and ComEd has gotten out from under an expensive contract.

Cook County To Cut Buildings’ Carbon Emissions

The county’s Board of Commissioners has approved an ordinance aimed at making public buildings more energy efficient — with the goal of sharply cutting greenhouse gases emitted by county-owned buildings.

Incandescent Light Bulbs To Be Phased Out

Thomas Edison would never approve, but beginning next year the incandescent light bulb will start being phased out. As CBS 2’s Roseanne Tellez reports it’s part of something called the Energy Independence and Security Act.
