The 16-year-old, identified as Rashaud Lewis, was shot in the 2300 block of Harrison Street in Gary, the Lake County coroner’s office said in a statement. Lewis lived in the 1000 block of West 22nd Avenue, which is about a half-mile from the shooting.

Officers responded to a call of shots fired in the 3600 block of Van Buren Street in Gary at 8:44 p.m. and found a man who’d been shot at least once in his upper body, according to a statement from Gary police. Rescue Group Trying To Find Mom Of Abandoned Puppies

All Breeds Rescue Angels said witnesses in the Miller Beach neighborhood of Gary, Indiana, saw someone in a black SUV pull over and discard several puppies, then drive away on March 28. A few minutes later, the SUV returned, and someone pushed another dog, believed to be the mother of the puppies, out of the vehicle.
