Cook County’s $25 Gun Tax Goes Into Effect
Gun sellers and owners haven’t been able to stop it, so a new $25-per-gun tax in Cook County went into effect on Monday.

County Commissioners Back Gun, Cigarette, Gambling Taxes To Balance Budget
The Cook County Board Finance Committee on Friday approved $41.7 million in new tax levies, including a controversial $25 tax on the sale of a gun anywhere in the county, and a $1-a-pack increase in the cigarette tax.
