The fatal shooting happened about 11:40 p.m. in the North Lawndale neighborhood. A 14-year-old boy was standing on the front porch of a home in the 1300 block of South Kostner with a two other people, when a car drove by and someone inside opened fire. The boy was shot in the back and later pronounced dead, police said.
A firefighter was injured and 25 people were displaced in an extra-alarm blaze early Sunday at an apartment building in Pilsen.
He was walking his dog when he was gunned down on Chicago’s West Side.
Conditions were pleasant overnight, but violence spilled onto the streets of Chicago in many areas – leaving three people dead and at least five others wounded from 4 p.m. Monday to 4 a.m. Tuesday.
