In 2011, vehicles traveled more than 31 billion miles on Illinois interstates. Records show I-55 was the most traveled interstate in Illinois, logging about 4.6 billion miles.

Higher Speed Limit Might Cost State Ticket Revenue

If Indiana is any indicator, it might end up costing the state of Illinois much-needed revenue if the governor signs off on legislation to raise the speed limit on most Interstate highways and tollways to 70 mph.

IDOT Ready To Clear Highways When Snowstorm Hits

It’s going to get progressively worse on Chicago area roads this afternoon and evening as the winter’s first snowstorm moves through, but the Illinois Department of Transportation said it’s ready to keep highways as clear as possible.
