A driver who may have been intoxicated crashed an SUV into a police vehicle early Wednesday in the South Shore neighborhood, leaving two Chicago Police officers injured.
Officers saw someone open fire and enter a vehicle about 9:45 p.m. in the 8000 block of South Manistee Avenue, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said. The chase ended when the suspect crashed into a vehicle, then into a tree in the 9200 block of South Jeffery Boulevard.
A memorial service was held Saturday for a 25-year-old man who was shot and killed during a robbery earlier this week, and his family and friends made a plea for justice.
The 25-year-old was found about 3:20 a.m. lying in the street in the 7800 block of South Jeffery Boulevard with a gunshot wound to his chest, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
