Students at a South Side elementary school were hoping to send a message to their community, despite the recent shooting of six people a mile away from their school.
The officers were responding to a call and heading north in the 8800 block of South Jeffery Boulevard about 10:45 p.m. when a woman driving a silver sedan west on 89th Street collided with the police SUV in the intersection, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.
The crash happened about 4 p.m. near the intersection of 93rd Street and Jeffery Boulevard.
