Visitation services were held Sunday for Gary Police Officer Jeffrey Westerfield at the Genesis Convention Center. His funeral was scheduled for Monday morning at the convention center, followed by a procession to his burial service in Shererville.
Jeffrey Westerfield, a 19-year veteran of the Gary Police Department, was shot and killed last Sunday.
A person of interest arrested in the murder of Gary Police Officer Jeff Westerfield on Sunday remained in custody on Friday, but has yet to be charged.
Authorities in northwest Indiana were offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the prosecution of a suspect or suspects in the murder of Gary Police Officer Jeffrey Westerfield, even though police have said publicly they’re “fairly confident” the suspect was arrested the same day Westerfield was slain.
Sources tell CBS 2 investigators are talking to people who were in contact with the suspected shooter the day officer Westerfield was killed.
