A few minutes past midnight, the two men – one 21 the other 20 – were standing outside in the 7200 block of South Lafayette Avenue when they heard gunshots and felt pain, police said.
The blaze began in the second floor of the single-family home in the 11500 block of South Lafeyette Avenue at 12:23 a.m., Chicago Fire Department spokesman Juan Hernandez said. Someone made it to the roof and jumped off to escape the fire.
