A northwest Indiana woman has been charged with murder after a drunken fight with her husband early Sunday led to a five-car crash that killed a pedestrian on the South Side, police said.
The man, described only as an adult, was walking on I-394 near Sauk Trail “for unknown reasons” when he was struck by a southbound vehicle at 10:08 p.m., according to Illinois State Police. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
About 11:50 p.m., a 38-year-old man was in the crosswalk on Division Street at Pulaski Road when he was hit by a dark-colored vehicle, police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.
The victim, a 26-year-old man, was in the 700 block of North York Road about 3:30 a.m. when the semi struck him, according to Elmhurst police. He remains in critical condition.
About 8:30 p.m., a Mazda sedan was pulling out from a parking lot at the southeast corner of Hickory Street and Western Avenue in Joliet when it struck a westbound Hyundai on Western. The impact sent the vehicles to the northwest corner of the intersection, where Joliet resident Mark A. Cipolla was standing.
Harry Clemons, 35, has been charged with aggravated DUI involving a death, aggravated DUI resulting in bodily harm, failure to reduce speed, failure to exercise due care to avoid colliding with a pedestrian, operating a motor vehicle without insurance and driving on a revoked license, according to Chicago Police.

Lida Xhelo, 62, was standing in the 5900 block of West Belmont Avenue about 6:40 p.m. when two vehicles crashed near her, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. She was also struck and taken to Our Lady of the Resurrection Medical Center, where she later died.
