A man is facing a felony charge of beating a police officer after he was among three people arrested in the Loop Wednesday afternoon while protesting the decision of a Missouri grand jury to not charge a Ferguson police officer with fatally shooting an unarmed 18-year-old black man.
A protester accused of hitting a Cook County correctional officer in the face with a tree branch during a demonstration outside the jail was ordered held on $10,000 bond Wednesday.
