South Side Irish Parade Crackdown Could Also Result In Pride Parade Arrests

Rowdy drunks would pay through the nose if they try again to take over a South Side Irish Parade that made a family-oriented comeback last year, thanks to a crackdown approved Wednesday that could lead to a rash of arrests at the Pride Parade.

Inebriated “idiots” once accused of “hijacking” the South Side Irish Parade would pay a heavy price if they dare to do it again, under a crackdown advanced Thursday by a City Council committee.

Final Preparations Under Way For Revived Irish Parade

Outside the Beverly Bakery, the “No Parking” signs are already posted. The chefs are roasting veggies for Guinness stew, and they’ve already cooked up amaretto cupcakes, CBS 2′s Derrick Blakley reports.

Gay Pride Parade To Be Rerouted Into Uptown

Following reports of major crowd control problems at the Gay Pride Parade this past summer, the City of Chicago has decided to move the start of the parade north to Uptown and push up its start time by two hours.
