22 Candidates Enter Race For Jackson’s Empty Seat In Congress

As expected, there is a very crowded field of candidates vying to replace Jesse Jackson Jr. in Congress. Seventeen Democrats and five Republicans met Monday evening’s deadline to file nominating petitions to run for the 2nd Congressional District seat in the upcoming special election.

Jackson’s Opponents Agree: Even If He Weren’t Sick, He’d Need To Go

The three candidates running against ailing Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. agree he would need to be replaced even if he were not being treated for bipolar disorder, but they differ over almost everything else.
