Emergency crews were called to the 300 block of West Roosevelt Road about 2:45 p.m. after receiving reports of the woman jumping from a bridge into the South Branch of the river.

There’s a lot more to the Chicago River than watching it get dyed green on St. Patrick’s Day. The Chicago River offers great places to eat, drink and enjoy some time on the water. From walking to boating, there are some amazing hidden adventures to be found along the Chicago River.
Before you know it, fall will be blowing into Chicago. So enjoy the last two months or so of nice weather while you can; and what better way to do it than enjoying either lunch or dinner outside along the Chicago River. I may be bias, but I think sitting alongside the river and eating lunch outside gives you some of the best views of the city with the river sparkling (although not sparkling clean) and the sun bouncing off the glass office buildings. It really makes you appreciate what a great city Chicago is.
This summer, try something other than the annual camping trip. With beautiful rivers flowing through Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin, a real lazy river adventure is only a couple hours away. Groups of tubes are tied together to keep you and your friends/family connected as you float down the river. Stopping at sand bars and taking swimming breaks makes for some fun along the way…
