Nearly 18 Months After Devastating Fire, Roy’s Furniture Returns To Lincoln Park

The family-owned business at 2455 N. Sheffield Av. was reduced to rubble in an extra-alarm blaze in May 2012. A brand new building opened last week at the site of the old store.

Brown Line riders in Lincoln Park and South Lakeview will have to hoof it to Belmont or Fullerton Wednesday and Thursday, as the Chicago Transit Authority closes the two stops in between to accommodate the demolition of the charred remains of Roy’s Furniture Company.

Extra-Alarm Fire Burns At Furniture Store, Delays CTA Trains

CTA trains on the Red, Brown, and Purple Lines were shut down in the Lincoln Park neighborhood for nearly three hours Tuesday afternoon, after an extra-alarm fire broke out at a furniture store next to the ‘L’ tracks.
