Man Allegedly Posed As Utility Worker To Steal Elderly Woman’s Jewelry

A southwest suburban man has been charged with allegedly stealing jewelry from an elderly woman during a January ruse burglary near Palos Park.

He claimed to be a gas company meter reader, but cops said he’s a hustler who distracted a Tinley Park homeowner while accomplices stole tens of thousands of dollars of cash, jewelry and electronics.
