John and Brenda O’Laughlin have raised $148,000 to fund 18 four-year scholarships, in honor of their daughter, Kelli. CBS 2’s Mike Parker reports.
The Chicago STAR Scholarship, which stands for Students Taking Academic Responsibility, would be offered to CPS graduates with a grade point average of at least 3.0, and who place into college-level math and English programs, and enroll in one of the various so-called “pathways” at any of the seven City Colleges of Chicago.
The latest recipients for the four-year college scholarships were selected from 300 applicants across the state.
The Ford Motor Co. Fund will award a $1 million grant for scholarships commemorating William Clay Ford’s contributions to the automaker’s design legacy.
