Snowfall Wednesday afternoon and evening is making the roads slick, creating havoc for cars.
Police say slick roads caused a 12-vehicle accident on Route 83 near I-55 in Willowbrook on Sunday.
Neither the bus driver nor the only passenger, a 12-year-old girl, were injured.
A sloppy, slushy mix gave way to rapid, heavy snow across the Chicago area Friday morning, leaving roads treacherously slick and making for a miserable morning commute.
Conditions more befitting of late October than late December will continue for the rest of the day Thursday, with sunshine and temperatures rising to the mid-40s. But roads could be treacherous again Friday morning.
The first measurable snowfall of the year might not have seemed like a big deal by Chicago winter standards, but it is being blamed for at least one deadly accident during the morning commute.
