There was an influx of both Chicago teams needing third basemen, and players available coming into Baseball’s Winter Meetings, and on Wednesday the logjam opened up.
On Thursday, the Chicago White Sox named Brent Morel their starting third baseman. While it seems as if Morel beat out Mark Teahen based on their spring training performances, the job may have been decided much sooner.
Last season the perception was that Mark Teahen was going to be the Chicago White Sox’s third baseman heading into the season. This season, however, there appears to be more competition at the hot corner.
