Quinn Signs New Law 1 Year After 10-Year-Old Killed By Drunk Boater

One year after a ten-year-old boy was killed by a drunk boater on the Chain O’ Lakes, his mother joined Governor Quinn at an emotional news conference today, announcing a new law, reports WBBM’s Michele Fiore.

Sentencing Begins For Impaired Boater In Boy’s Death

David Hatyina, 51, of Bartlett, who previously pleaded guilty to operating his boat under the influence of alcohol and cocaine when he ran over Tony Borcia, was before Kane County Judge Clint Hull on Thursday.

A Lake County grand jury approved reckless homicide and aggravated DUI charges Wednesday for the Bartlett man accused of being high on cocaine and under the influence of alcohol when he allegedly ran over a 10-year-old boy with his boat.

Man Charged With Plowing Into, Killing 10-Year-Old Boy On Suburban Lake

Prosecutors in north suburban Lake County say a Bartlett man had used cocaine and alcohol before he operated a boat which struck and killed a 10-year-old boy last month.
