Feds Allocate $54 Million To Open Thomson Prison

About $10 million will be used to renovate the maximum-security penitentiary that was a state prison that never fully opened because of budget constraints. The additional $43.7 million will be used for staffing and equipment.

Attorney: George Ryan Broke No Rules In Weekend Trip To Restaurant

George Ryan’s lawyer said Tuesday that the former governor did nothing wrong when he went out to dinner with family and a few friends on Sunday, despite being on home confinement through early July.

Lawyer Asks Judge To Endorse Blagojevich For Rehab

Rod Blagojevich’s attorneys have asked to have him placed in a drug and alcohol abuse program when he starts his 14-year prison sentence for corruption, though they aren’t saying if the former Illinois governor has a problem or if it’s a legal move.
