Viktor Stalberg is cleared to play after missing two games with a head injury, but he will not be in the lineup tonight when the Blackhawks host the Nashville Predators.
Marian Hossa and Viktor Stalberg were back on the ice at practice Tuesday, but only one of them will play when the Blackhawks host the Predators Wednesday night.
Although the Blackhawks did not have a regular morning skate before facing the Kings Sunday night, a few of their injured players did lace up the skates and take to the ice. Marian Hossa–out since November 29th–and Viktor Stalberg–out since December 15th–both tested their injuries. Patrick Kane, however, was unable get on the ice.
While the Hawks earned a quality win Friday night against the Red Wings, they’ll have to wait a little longer for their stars to return. Joel Quenneville told reporters this afternoon that Patrick Kane, Marian Hossa and Viktor Stalberg will all sit out of Sunday night’s game against the Kings.
The Blackhawks and Red Wings will add another game to their long-standing rivalry tonight in the United Center.
Hopes that the cavalry would come to the Blackhawks rescue Friday night against the Red Wings were tempered quite a bit after practice Thursday.
The Edmonton Oilers have four wins so far this season. Two of those wins have come against the Blackhawks in the United Center. The hawks look to return the favor tonight in Edmonton.
For the second time in a row, the Blackhawks had to take it into overtime. Saturday night was a disappointing loss, but Sunday the Hawks fought for another outcome as Viktor Stalberg made the game winning goal.
Saturday was a disappointing rematch from the playoffs as the Predators hunted down the Blackhawks in a shootout. The Blackhawks were ahead 3-2 going into the third period, but Nashville scored to bring the game into a scoreless overtime.
It was a close game between the Blackhawks and Thrashers as four former Hawks took the ice to face their old team. A 4-4 score sent the teams into a scoreless over time, then a shootout. Viktor Stalberg scored the winning goal for the Blackhawks.
