CTA To Close 2 North Side Stations For Red/Purple Line Renovations

The CTA’s ambitious $1.7 billion Red and Purple Modernization project will be completed in two phases over four years, starting with the closure of the Lawrence and Berwyn stations for 18 months beginning in 2017.

Red Line, Purple Line Express Riders Face A Year Of Longer Morning Commutes

Starting March 9, when the next phase of the CTA’s Wilson Station Reconstruction project begins, the westernmost of four tracks between Wilson and Belmont will be taken out of commission and the Purple Express trains that use it now will instead share a Red Line North track during the morning rush hour.
