This next B&B should not be discounted from this list because it is across state lines. Easily one of the most unique B&Bs in the Chicagoland area, Thyme for Bed is the area's only dome-shaped B&B. Shaped literally like a golfball, this place offers three bedrooms to choose from in this rural option. Built by the owners, guests shouldn't fear midwest summer weather as the dome shape makes this place rated for 300 mile per hour winds. It's not a fortress, however. Wifi and flat screen TVs adorn the suites just like the home-grown herbs and edible flowers adorn the meals.
