Best Breakfast Burritos In Chicago

The best brunch meals fill you up. After all, brunch is two meals in one, right? And the breakfast burrito seamlessly combines lunch and breakfast, what with eggs, beans and plenty of other fixings packed within a tortilla shell. More than just Mexican restaurants offer this brunch item, and they all put their own flourish on the popular dish.

While this contemporary Bucktown restaurant offers a slew of good eats, it's the breakfast burrito that is the most popular, and best dish, hands down. Jane's signature burrito (no substitutions) is packed with eggs, shiitake mushrooms, cilantro, tomatoes, black beans, monterey jack, cilantro and avocado mousse, making it one hefty burrito, especially along with a side of potatoes and priced at $12. Don't let the fact that there's no meat in this dish deter you either; with the mushrooms, it actually tastes a bit meaty. The dinner menu also features a vegetarian burrito made with goat cheese and tofu, which is also surprisingly good.

Known for its baked goods and housemade granola, this Wicker Park cafe also has a top-notch menu, and that includes its burrito. Only served Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. until noon, the burrito comes filled with scrambled eggs, cheese, iceburg lettuce, black beans and most importantly, chipotle crema and salsa. All of this is yours for just $6.75.

Once a simple coffee and sandwich shop, Cafe Con Leche in Logan Square expanded its menu and now offers delicious Latin comfort food. Its burrito is what you make of it, literally. You can choose your meat -- steak, sausage, ham, chorizo or vegetarian -- which is then mixed in with two scrambled eggs, rice and refried beans inside a flour tortilla. All of this comes with house potatoes for only $7.95. One last perk to Cafe Con Leche is its free parking.

Cafe Selmarie

This Lincoln Park hotspot may be known for its pastries, but it has a decent restaurant menu as well. One favorite on the menu is the breakfast burrito. Along with the usual scrambled eggs, it also comes with a good dose of chorizo, black bean salsa and avocado. It's then topped with sour cream and served with a side of housemade mild salsa, along with some crispy potatoes and small side of fruit for just $9.50.

Flo
1434 W. Chicago Ave.
Chicago, IL 60642
(312) 243-0477

As the only Mexican restaurant on this list, it represents what a true Mexican breakfast burrito should be while also offering its own little twist. After all, everything in the original burrito is folded into a spinach tortilla. Inside this burrito, the fixings will make your mouth water. Along with scrambled eggs, enjoy pickled jalapenos, roasted poblano, cheddar cheese, pico de gallo and sour cream. This comes with a side of black beans and potatoes for $8. A second burrito option on Flo's menu is the smothered burrito, which is similar to the original burrito but - as the name implies - also smothered in either red or green chili.
