Ten-year-old Eli Knauer takes a bite from a bacon cheeseburger twice wider than his face on May 27, 2011 at Morton’s Steakhouse in Baltimore, Maryland. Knauer has a ravenous appetite for carving out the juiciest meats and sweetest desserts across Baltimore restaurants. But at just 10, this is no ordinary food critic. From his four-foot (1.2-meter) height and wiry stature, Eli may appear diminutive, but he has an expansive vocabulary in tow with which he skewers, and more often praises, the restaurants and eateries he visits at least once a week with one or both of his parents. He came up with the idea during a summer vacation after telling his mother he wanted to become a food critic when he grows up and she said he needed to first start a blog. “Adventures of a Koodie” chronicles his take on restaurants in and around Baltimore, as well as some other areas he visits with his family.
