In a city that boasts a Greektown as expansive as Chicago, you have come to the right place if you are in search of gyros (and remember, it’s pronounced “YEE-ros.”) Don’t get me wrong; you don’t have to be a city dweller to get the goods. Whether it is the pita that is more important to you, or it is the meat and the sauce, this expansive list includes the best of Greektown in beyond, on your search for Chicago’s Best gyros.
239 S. Halsted Street
Chicago, IL 60686
What better place to order gyros from, then in Greek town. We think they have the market cornered there. Whether you are in for a hearty meal or a late night snack, this West Loop establishment has it all. Our recommendation, beyond their gyros, is definitely the cheese fries. Try them out, you won’t be sorry!
807 W. Webster Avenue
Chicago, IL 60614
If you are looking for good gyros in the Lincoln Park area, then Athenian Room is for you. This establishment boasts outdoor eating, and a much simpler menu then you would expect if you were to travel to Greektown. One tip, if you need a drink. This is a BYOB restaurant, so the spirits are on you. But you can always go through the side door and bring back a drink from Glascott’s Groggery next door.
3550 N. Harlem Avenue
Chicago, IL 60634
If you are looking for a neighborhood place to grab some gyros, look no further than Franksville. A hit to the residents of Elmwood Park, this Dunning neighborhood spot never disappoints. Situated on the corner of Harlem and Addison, Franksville is conveniently located for all your hunger needs.
Mr. Greek Gyros:
234 S. Halsted Street
Chicago, IL 60661
This Greektown “spot” is definitely “the spot” if you are looking for some late night food after a long night out. Situated between Jackson and Adams, you can pick up killer gyros at any time. Gyros not enough for you? Be sure to also try out the cheese fries and a pizza puff to wash it down.
Tom’s Carry Out:
3840 Harlem Avenue
Lyons, IL 60534
Tom’s Carry Out has been a fixture in my life since I learned how to ride a bike and was allowed to cross the street. Tom features the best gyros in town. Good luck getting a parking space in the parking lot during the lunch time hours. Location is great, as it is right off of Harlem Ave and Odgen Ave and convenient for car, foot, or bus traffic.
