BFD — expensive downtown Chicago hotels are pet-friendly! If and when I stay in an expensive downtown Chicago hotel, I’ll just leave my kitty at home.

What I want to know is which hotels and motels on-the-road will let me keep my kitty-cat with me in my room without charging me an outrageously expensive — sometimes upwards of $100 — “unrefundable pet clean-up fee.” When Nicki and I stay at a hotel, when we check-out, the only evidence of her having been in the room is, perhaps, a few grains of kitty litter that may have splashed from her covered litter-box that are easily vacuumed-up in the normal housekeeping process. And I always tip hotel housekeepers generously — cat or no cat. Why should I hafta pay sometimes more than I’m paying just to stay in the room for “pet clean-up?”

I know that all 51 Kimpton Hotels in the country don’t charge a deposit or any extra fees… and they don’t have any size restrictions. It’s one of the only nice hotel chains that is truely pet friendly!

Red Roof Inns allow pets, with reasonable limitations, and charge nothing extra. Some of the properties are a little threadbare, but the newer ones are terrific and a great value.

Great article! Here’s a free mobile app that shows even more of them, and it’s separated by the weight of your dog too:
