THE DEFENSE

Q: Hi, Alexis. Great Buick. How did you come by it?

A: My sister and I bought this car three months ago. Our other car, which was a 1999 Buick Regal, was pretty much done. One day I went outside to start the car and it wouldn't turn over. At first I thought it was just the battery, but when we got someone to look at it, we found out it was much more than that. The cost to fix it was more than the car was worth. We decided we would just buy another one.

Q: What made you choose the Regal?

A: Three things. Since my sister and I share this car, we needed something with space. Two, we already had an older version of the same car. We figured we might as well go with something we knew we already liked. Three, it was pretty cheap.

Q: How is it sharing a car with your sister?

A: It works because we both live together and work at the same place, which means we have a very similar schedule. There isn't a lot of fighting about who gets to drive the car. The only issues we have when it comes to sharing the car is when we want to go out. Then we have to work it out to see who gets the car, but those times are rare.

Q: Have you ever thought about getting your own car?

A: Of course. But right now it makes more sense to share the cost of one car since we both live and work together than to have two separate cars. One day we will definitely have our own separate cars. With the outrageous cost of gas and expensive car repairs, it makes life easier to have someone to share those costs with.

Q: Do you guys have any rules for your car?

A: Sure do. With two adults, four kids, and friends and family continually in and out of this car, we have to or it would be wrecked. We do allow people to eat and drink in the car because we don't want people to feel like they're in prison, but no sloppy foods that easily get everywhere. Make sure you take your trash with you. Smoking is allowed because we both smoke. But the windows have to be rolled down. Make sure there are no ashes left everywhere.

Q: Do you guys listen to any music in the car?

A: If one of my favorite songs comes on, I make sure to turn it all the way up. If the weather is nice, I roll the windows down also.

Q: Do you dance along also?

A: Of course! If I'm in the car with someone else they better dance to, or they're out. You have to have fun in life, and if you're not having fun you can't be around me.

Q: Is there anything else that you'd like to share with us about your ride?

A: This is my baby. I love this car. It's reliable, spacious and just awesome!
