If you are like me, you are racking your brain about what to don for New Year’s Eve. One of the biggest nights of holiday fashion is of course New Year’s Eve. You can celebrate this night in the most casual of intimate affairs to the most dashingly dapper social events!

CASUAL PARTY AT FRIEND’S HOUSE

Let’s start with a casual get together at a friend’s home. One of your dearest friends is putting together a low-key night of fun party appetizers, a punch bowl full of inhibitions, and a fairly intimate gathering of guests. Just because this appears to be a fairly casual domestic party does not mean you cannot partake in glamming up your look. You can achieve glamor, comfort and casual all in one! I started with this ultra chic DKNY sleeveless sequin tank from Macy’s ($44). Next add a fabulous black sheer top from Urban Outfitters ($59). The sleeveless sequin tank you thought was just for warmer weather is now transformed into winter-glam by layering! The bow tie from the sheer top creates sophistication as it peek-a-boos over the neckline of the sequin top! Now that your top half is chic for days, lets adjust this to the casual end by pairing with slim boot cut black jeans by Gap ($48.96). Choose black, to give off a classier look while maintaining the comfort of jeans.

Why not add some fun yet elegant Betsey Johnson sequin panda earrings from Dillard’s ($35). Anchor this casual chic look with shiny metallic flats from Aldo ($50). When it comes to New Years Eve casual, glamor is as simple as pairing a swanky top with smart jeans and elegant flats!

DATE NIGHT

It’s New Year’s Eve and your plans happen to be a date with a significant other. A candlelit dinner at your favorite restaurant and dancing afterward begs for smart cocktail attire. Start with this amazing Maggie London lace shift dress at Nordstrom’s ($138). This dress pays homage to all the “it” trends going on right now: mod, boho-romance and lace! The cut offers a modest sex appeal perfect for a date with your long time spouse or a first impression of a blind date! Next keep it simple by adding sheer black tights and add a pop of drama with fuchsia sling back platform pumps from Baker’s Shoes ($89.99).

Keep the color story going with a grand cocktail ring also from Baker’s ($20). Finish this look off with a delicate jade pendant necklace from Urban Outfitters ($34). New Years Eve date apparel should be stunningly simple and subtly sexy. This look will keep you chic, comfortable, and confident from dinner, to sipping, to dancing and finally to your stroke of midnight smooch!

OUT ON THE TOWN WITH FRIENDS

This year your New Years Eve plans involve gallivanting with your downtown friends hopping from ‘it’ night spot to ‘it’ night spot with only short respites in a limo to catch your breath and reapply your powder. This year calls for major glam. Be the disco ball your friends dance around in this fabulous silver sequin dress from Forever 21 ($29.50). Sequin dresses can take you from girl next door to glam goddess in seconds! I chose black semi sheer chevron tights from Urban Outfitters ($14) and then paired with over the knee black platform boots from Aldo ($110) to edge up the whole look. Pairing a sequin dress with rock star boots is a fun and forward approach to last year’s sequin dress.

Add a black quartz cocktail ring from Modcloth ($35) and fun headpiece from Aldo ($15) and you are ready to dash out the door for your adventurous night!
