I’ve only recently discovered belts. Really, 28 years counting, and I never wore one until a few months ago. The tiny waist décor now polishes off many of my garments. Cinching a shirtdress has never been more fun. Embellishments like stones, metal details, and flowers kick up the midsection’s style. But don’t go too crazy and buy a piece that will end up in a museum (say, those with pouches). Whether it’s a leather wraparound, skinny, or super wide one, stretch these little accessories to as many outfits as you can.

Skinny belts are great for that city chic look. I classify belts as a trendier item that I probably will want to update next season. At $4.80, this one is a steal. It’s feminine with a floral print and antique finish, versatile, and elegantly slim. And you wont feel bad next season if you don’t wear it.

These next two belts I’m obsessed with are both from White House Black Market. The first belt can amp up your outfit without too much effort. Turn your casual outfit into something glamorous by wearing a statement belt. A little hardware on the waist looks good here. Fasten the oversized buckle around a solid or patterned dress for $58. The second, an Asian-inspired leather crafted with layered leather circles. Use it for division between a skirt and tee. Price a little lower at $48.

Swing by the recently opened AllSaints on Michigan for its belt selection. The Grimhild belt is a timeless leather option to wear with jeans. Hurry, it’s on sale for $45, regular $90.

I’m drawn to this belt for its blend of cotton, leather, and metal, as well as the Old English brass hardware and width. It also comes in black; either choice will match just about anything in your closet, price at $49.50.

Use the Urban Outfitters belt to accentuate your figure. This belt caught my eye, mostly due to the rustic buckle. It is a mix of the classic cincher to pair with casual or work dresses, while also being the chic belt to dress up evening-out pieces. Priced at just $29.
