Second Hand Shopping Deals In Chicago

There is such a thing as half-priced shopping. Budget-minded shoppers with an eye for style and a thin wallet: head to Lincoln Park. Create your wardrobe from the latest trends—and most classic pieces—at a fraction of the cost. Below are three must-visit shops (two being consignment) that are home to designer wears at bargain buys. If you're leery of purchasing second-hand garments, need not be. Second Time Around and McShane's Exchange are very choosy in what they accept. Cheers to browsing the closets of Chicagoans!

The store's window display gives away that this consignment shop is a great find, especially considering that it is a chain consignment shop. Mannequins dressed in contemporary brands like True Religion jeans paired with a casual Nautical Splendid Tee, and a Marc Jacobs thin brown leather belt let shoppers know there's a piece awaiting everyone - at a fraction of their original retail cost. The best part about Second Time Around, you can actually mail in donations from anywhere around the country, meaning even more great finds!

You can't walk away from Fox's empty handed... ever. Though it's not consignment attire, the relatively small store, is a treasure trove of designer clothing and accessories that are all half-off retail prices. Try a Free People summer dress, Michael Stars classic Tee, or aisles of career wear. Be prepared to search the racks to find that one true bargain, but no matter what you walk away with, you can be sure you've gotten the best deal around.

McShane's Exchange

815 West Armitage Avenue
Chicago, IL 60614-4399

This may be the cutest-looking secondhand shop. The old house converted to top shop consignment is home to rooms and rooms of bargain prices. Many racks are arranged by color, others by designers such as Kenneth Cole and DKNY. The store abides by a policy to not carry garments that are older than 3 years. That chic leather jacket you wanted from two years ago? It's still in style and probably hidden somewhere within the walls of McShane's Exchanges boutiques.
