Chicago Illiuminating Company

This is Chicago, and just looking at the abundant amounts of locations to have your wedding can give you a massive migraine. Never fear– as an event planner and a soon-to-be-bride, I have quickly learned the secrets of how to pick the perfect venue for one of the happiest days of your life. Below are 5 traits to look for that your location must provide, along with venues to match. The only thing I can’t help you with is how quickly these popular spots sell out!

Service: JW Marriott

The service at this brand new hotel is impeccable. As a soon to be bride, I need to know that I will not have to worry about a single thing the day of my wedding, and that is exactly what the JW Marriott provides. As soon as you walk into the hotel to receive your initial tour, you know that everything is taken care of, starting with the initial set up and lasting until the DJ announces the final song. Your contract is discussed and negotiated by your expert catering team who treats the bride as the princess that she is, and the details are then forwarded to your very own wedding planner. There is absolutely nothing done without the bride’s approval. Here is what I need on a silver platter, now make it happen. No Bridezilla necessary. Thank you, and Happy Wedding.

History: Chicago History Museum

If you and your significant other met in Chicago, there is no better place to have your event than the Chicago History Museum. Not only does this add to the “history” of your lives, but your guests will also get to learn a little Chicago history as they sip their cocktails. There are exhibits along the walls of the reception area for your guests to entertain themselves with, but for an extra $500, they are willing to open a full exhibit for your cocktail hour. The best part about this space—you can wait as long as an hour before your ceremony begins to decide whether you would like it to be outdoor or indoor. Weather about to rain on your parade? Brides don’t worry; they’ve got it covered.

If you have had your perfect wedding envisioned in your head since you were a little girl, the Chicago Illuminating Company is perfect for you. It is a raw space, which allows you to decorate as you please, within their rules and regulations that is. The walls are painted white, so you can’t go wrong with your favorite color. Decorate it to your liking and add your own personal flair. Be sure to add all those extra details that make you and your special someone unique above all the rest!

Elegance: Elysian Hotel

Be treated like the princess (or prince) that you are at the Elysian Hotel. The Elysian is one of the most elite hotels in the city, and you know Chicago has mastered the service in the hospitality industry. The food will be top of the line, and your cake will be beautiful with Stephanie Prida as head of the pastries. The gorgeous and unique chandeliers will make you feel like Cinderella, so dance in your glass slippers even after the stroke of midnight.

Venue with a View: Chicago Yacht Club

Is there a more romantic way to get married than with Lake Michigan and the Chicago Skyline in the background? I don’t think so. Have your dream wedding at either the Monroe or Belmont Station—both very different, but both absolutely breathtaking. You also don’t have to travel far for your dream pictures, and your photographer will have a blast photographing you and your wedding party. Shower and locker room facilities are available with plenty of mirror space for both sides of the wedding party to primp themselves. Make it a night neither of you will ever forget.
