Billy Williams statue dedication set for September 7th

On September 7, the Chicago Cubs will dedicate a statue to Hall of Famer Billy Williams. The ceremony will take place on the corner of Sheffield and Addison, where the Harry Caray statue once stood.

The ceremony will begin at 5:30 pm and will include members of the Ricketts Family. To celebrate their former teammate,  Ernie Banks, Fergie Jenkins, Ron Santo and Glenn Beckert will be on hand as well. Williams' statue will become the third outside of Wrigley Field. An Ernie Banks statue stands close to the corner of Clark and Addison and the Harry Caray statue has been moved to Sheffield and Waveland.

Williams posts career numbers of .290 batting average, 2,711 hits, 426 home runs and 1,475 RBI. In his 18-year major league career, Williams was named a National League All-Star six times. The 1961 N.L Rookie of the Year played in 1,117 consecutive games, which at the time was the all-time N.L. record.
