Ameren Completes Ill. Merger

ST. LOUIS (AP) - St. Louis-based utility Ameren Corp. says it has completed merging its three Illinois electric and natural gas subsidiaries into one public entity.

Ameren says the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has signed off on renaming AmerenCIPS, AmerenCILCO and AmerenIP as Peoria-headquartered Ameren Illinois Co.

AmerenUE, which serves roughly 1.2 million customers in Missouri, now will be known as Ameren Missouri.

The reorganizations of the Illinois utilities doesn't affect the current customer electricity and natural gas rates.

Ameren Illinois serves all or part of 85 of Illinois' 102 counties and ranks as the second-biggest Illinois electricity delivery operation in terms of total customers, with about 1.2 million.

The subsidiary has 813,000 natural gas customers.
