Marine From Illinois Killed In Afghanistan
CHICAGO (WBBM) - The war in Afghanistan has claimed the life of a soldier from northern Illinois.

The Department of Defense reports that 19-year-old Lance Corporal Alec Catherwood of Byron was killed in action on Thursday, while conducting combat operations in the Helmand province.
He was engaged to be married in July.
His fiancee's mother told the Rockford Register Star newspaper that he had wanted to be a Marine since he was three years old.
