Rose: 'Why Can't I Be MVP Of The League?'

(WSCR) - LeBron James may have won the league MVP last season and Kevin Durant may be favored to win it this season, but there's at least one person that thinks Derrick Rose has a shot for that honor. That person just happens to be Rose himself, "[w]hy can't I be MVP of the league?'' he asked Tim Povtak of FanHouse.

"I'm more comfortable this year, with both our defensive and offensive sets. I'm way more comfortable out there now,'' he told Povtak. "And that should make me a better player this season.''

The first overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft, Rose was named NBA Rookie of the Year and then in the following year was name to the NBA All-Star Team. After leading the Bulls to two consecutive playoff berths, a leap to the next level might not be out of the question for Rose.

"I'm out there trying to be the best,'' Rose said. "Why not?''

If Rose is indeed capable of playing himself into MVP talks, then the Bulls might be setting their sights on more than just a third consecutive playoff appearance.
