3 Teens Charged In Gurnee Mills Attack

GURNEE, Ill. (STMW) - Three north suburban teens stand charged with beating and robbing a man Wednesday night in a washroom at Gurnee Mills mall.

The victim, a 19-year-old Waukegan man, told police he was buying food at the mall's food court about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday when he was confronted by the three suspects, whom he recognized. The victim then went into a washroom and the teens followed.

The suspects accused the victim of stealing a video game and computer equipment, and when he denied taking the items, they allegedly punched and kicked him, then stole his wallet, cell phone and keys, according to Gurnee police.

A witness called police, who arrested the three in the mall parking lot. A security guard found the wallet in a trash can outside mall. It contained only $5 and some cards, a release from police said. The victim did not require medical attention.

Quincy R. Minor and Devord I. Page, both 17 and from Waukegan, were charged as adults with robbery and aggravated battery, the latter charge upgraded because the incident occurred in a public place, the release said.

A 15-year-old Waukegan boy was released to his foster parents and will face the same charges in Lake County Juvenile Court.

Minor and Page were held overnight at the Gurnee Police Dept. and are scheduled to appear in bond court Thursday in Waukegan.
