Gun-Toting Man Asks Officer For Ride Home

JOLIET, Ill. (STMW) - A Mokena man was arrested Sunday morning in southwest suburban Joliet after he asked a police officer for a ride home with a gun holstered on his hip.

A police officer was responding to a report of a man with a gun at 3:55 a.m. Sunday morning in a parking lot on the 2700 block of Plainfield Road when Jonathon P. Roth, 22, of Mokena asked for a ride home.

The officer said he noticed a loaded handgun in a holster on Roth's left hip, according to police reports.

The officer confiscated the weapon after Roth complied with an order to put his hands on his head, police said.

Police said Roth also had a magazine with five rounds of ammunition in his back pocket, according to police.

Roth was arrested for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and was booked into the Will County jail, police said.
