Man Held In Evanston Shooting

EVANSTON, Ill. (CBS) -A man who allegedly shot a woman last month in Evanston was arrested on a parole violation, police announced.

At about 11:15 p.m. Oct. 19, Evanston police responded to a report of a person shot at 1725 Dodge Ave. The victim, a 27-year-old Evanston resident, was found lying on the driveway.

Dodge Avenue is the Evanston extension of Chicago's California Avenue.

She had suffered a single gunshot wound to her midsection, the release said. The investigation was being treated as an aggravated battery, according to Cmdr. Tom Guenther.

Police determined a person of interest who was identified as the lone shooter, but the victim did not want to cooperate with police, according to an Evanston Police release on Monday.

Detectives continued their investigation and determined the person of interest had violated his parole for a previous crime, when his GPS monitor registered him out of range of his designated area during the time of the shooting, according to the release.

The man, who was not identified, was arrested on a parole violation warrant, the release said.
