ISLAND LAKE, Ill. (AP) – Police in the northern Chicago suburb of Island Lake are investigating the apparent drowning death of a 2-year-old boy.

Island Lake Police say they were responding to a call about a missing child when they found young Mason Mack of Island Lake in the waters of a lake near his home before dawn Monday.

Michael was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Children’s Hospital in Park Ridge, where he was pronounced dead at 3:25 a.m.

Lake County Assistant State’s Attorney Jeff Pavletic says the Lake County Major Crimes Task Force has been called in to assist in the investigation of the boy’s death.
